Matthew 17:1-9

The Transfiguration

1 ^aAnd after six days Jesus took with him ^bPeter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was ^ctransfigured before them, and ^dhis face shone like the sun, and ^ehis clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for ^fElijah.” 5 He was still speaking when, behold, ^ga bright cloud overshadowed them, and ^ha voice from the cloud said, ⁱ“This is my beloved Son, ^{▼▼Or my Son, my (or the) Beloved} with whom I am well pleased; ^klisten to him.” 6 When ^lthe disciples heard this, ^mthey fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and ⁿtouched them, saying, “Rise, and ^ohave no fear.” 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

9 ^pAnd as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, ^q“Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

Mark 9:2-10

The Transfiguration

2 ^rAnd after six days Jesus took with him ^sPeter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was ^ttransfigured before them, 3 and ^uhis clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one ^{▼▼Greek launderer (gnapheus)} on earth could bleach them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter said to Jesus, ^w“Rabbi, ^{▼▼ Rabbi means my teacher, or my master} it is good that we are here. Let us make three ^ytents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 For ^zhe did not know what to say, for they were terrified. 7 And ^aaa cloud overshadowed them, and ^aba voice came out of the cloud, ^ac“This is my beloved Son; ^{▼▼Or my Son, my (or the) Beloved} ^aelisten to him.” 8 And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only.

9 ^afAnd as they were coming down the mountain, ^aghe charged them to tell no one what they had seen, ^ahuntil the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 ^aiSo they kept the matter to themselves, ^ajquestioning what this rising from the dead might mean.
