1 aAt that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you bturn and cbecome like children, you dwill never enter the kingdom of heaven.Luke 14:7-11
The Parable of the Wedding Feast
7Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed ehow they chose the places of honor, saying to them, 8“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him, 9and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place. 10But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, fso that when your host comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you. 11For geveryone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”John 5:44
44How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and hdo not seek the glory that comes from ithe only God?Acts 8:9-11
Simon the Magician Believes
9But there was a man named Simon, jwho had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, ksaying that he himself was somebody great. 10They all paid attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, l“This man is the power of God that is called mGreat.” 11And they paid attention to him because for a long time he had namazed them with his magic.Acts 8:17
