1 ^aAt that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you ^bturn and ^cbecome like children, you ^dwill never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 ^eWhoever humbles himself like this child is the ^fgreatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 ^g“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me,

Matthew 20:21-24

21 And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine ^hare to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, ⁱin your kingdom.” 22 Jesus answered, ^j“You do not know what you are asking. Are you able ^kto drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” 23 He said to them, ^l“You will drink ^mmy cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, ⁿbut it is for those for whom it has been ^oprepared by my Father.” 24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers.

Who Is the Greatest?

46 ^pAn argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side 48 and said to them, ^q“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and ^rwhoever receives me receives him who sent me. For ^she who is least among you all is the one who is great.”

Who Is the Greatest?

24 ^tA dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 ^uAnd he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles ^vexercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 ^wBut not so with you. Rather, let ^xthe greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, ^yone who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But ^zI am among you as the one who serves.

28 “You are those who have stayed with me ^aain my trials, 29 and ^abI assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, 30 ^acthat you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and ^adsit on thrones judging ^aethe twelve tribes of Israel.
