The Rich Young Man

16 aAnd behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to bhave ceternal life?” 17And he said to him, Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. dIf you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, e“You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19Honor your father and mother, and, fYou shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20The young man said to him, gAll these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21Jesus said to him, If you would be hperfect, go, isell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have jtreasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 kWhen the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

23And Jesus said to his disciples, Truly, I say to you, lonly with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 mAgain I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter nthe kingdom of God.” 25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26But Jesus olooked at them and said, pWith man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 27Then Peter said in reply, “See, qwe have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” 28Jesus said to them, Truly, I say to you, in the new world,

swhen the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me twill also sit on twelve thrones, ujudging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 vAnd everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold

The Rich Ruler

18 aaAnd a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to abinherit eternal life?” 19And Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 20You know the commandments: ac‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’” 21And he said, adAll these I have kept from my youth.” 22When Jesus heard this, he said to him, One thing you still lack. aeSell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have aftreasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 23 agBut when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. 24Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, ahHow difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter aithe kingdom of God! 25For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter ajthe kingdom of God.” 26Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” 27But he said, ak“What is impossible with man is possible with God.” 28And Peter said, “See, alwe have left our homes and followed you.” 29And he said to them, Truly, I say to you, amthere is no one who has left house or wife or brothers
