Matthew 21:23-27

The Authority of Jesus Challenged

23 aAnd when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him bas he was teaching, and said, cBy what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?” 24Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25The baptism of John, dfrom where did it come? eFrom heaven or from man?” And they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, fWhy then did you not believe him?’ 26But if we say, ‘From man,’ gwe are afraid of the crowd, for they all hold that John was ha prophet.” 27So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And he said to them, Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Mark 11:28-33

Luke 19:35-40

35And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36And as he rode along, they nspread their cloaks on the road. 37As he was drawing nearalready on the way down the Mount of Olivesothe whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice pfor all the mighty works that they had seen, 38saying, qBlessed is rthe King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and sglory in the highest!” 39 tAnd some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, uthe very stones would cry out.”

Luke 19:45-46

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

45 vAnd he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, 46saying to them, “It is written, wMy house shall be a house of prayer,’ but xyou have made it a den of robbers.”
