18But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, Why aput me to the test, you hypocrites?

Matthew 23:14-28

15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single bproselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a cchild of dhell
Greek Gehenna; also verse 33
as yourselves.

16Woe to fyou, gblind guides, who say, hIf anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or ithe temple that has made the gold sacred? 18And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by jthe gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ 19You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or kthe altar that makes the gift sacred? 20So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by lhim who dwells in it. 22And whoever swears by mheaven swears by nthe throne of God and by ohim who sits upon it.

23 pWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For qyou tithe mint and dill and rcumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: sjustice and mercy and faithfulness. tThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing ua camel!

25 vWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For wyou clean the outside of xthe cup and the plate, but inside they are full of ygreed and self-indulgence. 26You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of zthe cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

27 aaWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like abwhitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and acall uncleanness. 28So you also adoutwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of aehypocrisy and lawlessness.

Luke 12:56

56You hypocrites! afYou know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
