Lament over Jerusalem

37 ^q“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that ^rkills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have ^sgathered ^tyour children together ^uas a hen gathers her brood ^vunder her wings, and ^wyou were not willing!

Mark 12:2-8

2 When the season came, he sent a servant ^{▼▼Greek bondservant; also verse 4} to the tenants to get from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 ^yAnd they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 ^zAgain ^aahe sent to them another servant, and ^abthey struck him on the head and ^actreated him shamefully. 5 ^adAnd he sent another, and him they killed. And so with many others: some they beat, and some they killed. 6 He had still one other, ^aea beloved son. ^afFinally he sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those tenants said to one another, ^ag‘This is the heir. Come, ^ahlet us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8 And they took him and killed him and ^aithrew him out of the vineyard.

Luke 11:47-51

47 ^ajWoe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets whom your fathers killed. 48 ^akSo you are witnesses and you ^alconsent to the deeds of ^amyour fathers, for they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49 Therefore also ^anthe Wisdom of God said, ^ao‘I will send them ^approphets and apostles, ^aqsome of whom they will ^arkill and persecute,’ 50 so that ^asthe blood of all the prophets, shed ^atfrom the foundation of the world, may be ^aucharged against this generation, 51 from the blood of ^avAbel to the blood of ^awZechariah, who perished between ^axthe altar and the sanctuary.
