Matthew 23:3

3so do and observe whatever they tell you, abut not the works they do. bFor they preach, but do not practice.

Matthew 23:15

15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single cproselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a dchild of ehell
Greek Gehenna; also verse 33
as yourselves.

Matthew 23:23

23 gWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For hyou tithe mint and dill and icumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: jjustice and mercy and faithfulness. kThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.

Romans 2:17-24

17But if you call yourself a Jew and lrely on the law and boast in God 18and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; 19and if you are sure that you yourself are ma guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law nthe embodiment of oknowledge and truth 21 pyou then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you qrob temples? 23You who rboast in the law sdishonor God by breaking the law. 24For, tas it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed uamong the Gentiles because of you.”

Romans 3:9-19

No One Is Righteous

9What then? Are we Jews
Greek  Are we
any better off?
Or at any disadvantage?
No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both xJews and yGreeks, are zunder sin,
10as it is written:

aa“None is righteous, no, not one;
11no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
12All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
13 abTheir throat is acan open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive.”
ad“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
14 aeTheir mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
15 afTheir feet are swift to shed blood;
16in their paths are ruin and misery,
17and agthe way of peace they have not known.”
18 ah“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19Now we know that whatever aithe law says it speaks to those who are under the law, ajso that every mouth may be stopped, and akthe whole world may be held accountable to God.

2 Peter 2:19

19They promise them alfreedom, ambut they themselves are slaves
Greek bondservants
of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
