Matthew 25:14-30

The Parable of the Talents

14 aFor bit will be like a man cgoing on a journey, who called his servants
Greek bondservants; also verse 19
and entrusted to them his property.
15To one he gave five etalents,
A  talent was a monetary unit worth about twenty years’ wages for a laborer
to another two, to another one, gto each according to his ability. Then he hwent away.
16He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18But he who had received the one talent went and idug in the ground and hid his master’s money. 19Now jafter a long time the master of those servants came and ksettled accounts with them. 20And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ 21His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and lfaithful servant.
Greek bondservant; also verses 23, 26, 30
nYou have been faithful over a little; oI will set you over much. Enter into pthe joy of your master.’
22And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ 23His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be qa hard man, reaping rwhere you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, syou have what is yours.’ 26But his master answered him, ‘You twicked and uslothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 vFor to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30And wcast xthe worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place ythere will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Romans 12:6-8

6 zHaving gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if aaprophecy, abin proportion to our faith; 7if acservice, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; adthe one who leads,
Or gives aid
with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with afcheerfulness.

1 Corinthians 14:5

5Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but ageven more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

1 Corinthians 14:12

12So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church.

1 Corinthians 14:17

17For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up.

1 Corinthians 14:19

19Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

1 Corinthians 14:22-26

22Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign
Greek lacks  a sign
not for unbelievers but for believers.
23If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, aiwill they not say that you are out of your minds? 24But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 ajthe secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, akfalling on his face, he will worship God and aldeclare that God is really among you.

Orderly Worship

26What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has ama hymn, ana lesson, aoa revelation, apa tongue, or aqan interpretation. arLet all things be done for building up.

Ephesians 4:7-12

7But asgrace was given atto each one of us auaccording to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8Therefore it says,

av“When he ascended on high awhe led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.”
The Greek word anthropoi can refer to both men and women

9( ayIn saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into azthe lower regions, the earth?
Or  the lower parts of the earth?
10He who descended is the one who also bbascended bcfar above all the heavens, that he might bdfill all things.) 11And behe gave the bfapostles, the prophets, the bgevangelists, the bhshepherds
Or pastors
and teachers,
Or  the shepherd-teachers
