The Passover with the Disciples

17 oNow on pthe first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where will you have us prepare for you to eat the Passover?” 18He said, Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, q‘The Teacher says, rMy time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.’” 19And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover.

20 sWhen it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve.

Luke 23:1-6

Jesus Before Pilate

1 apThen the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. 2And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man aqmisleading our nation and arforbidding us to give tribute to asCaesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, ata king.” 3 auAnd Pilate asked him, avAre you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, awYou have said so.” 4Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, ax“I find no guilt in this man.” 5But they were urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, ayfrom Galilee even to this place.”

Jesus Before Herod

6When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.

Luke 23:13-25

13Pilate then called together the chief priests and azthe rulers and the people, 14and said to them, “You brought me this man baas one who was misleading the people. And bbafter examining him before you, behold, I bcdid not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. 15Neither did Herod, for bdhe sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. 16 beI will therefore punish and release him.”
Here, or after verse 19, some manuscripts add verse 17: Now he was obliged to release one man to them at the festival

Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

18 bgBut they all cried out together, bh“Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— 19a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and bifor murder. 20Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, 21but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” 22A third time he said to them, “Why, bjWhat evil has he done? bkI have found in him no guilt deserving death. blI will therefore punish and release him.” 23But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. 24So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted. 25He released the man who had been thrown into prison bmfor insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, bnbut he delivered Jesus over to their will.

John 18:28-40

Jesus Before Pilate

28 boThen they led Jesus bpfrom the house of Caiaphas to bqthe governor’s headquarters.
Greek  the praetorium
It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor’s headquarters, bsso that they would not be defiled, btbut could eat the Passover.
29 buSo Pilate went outside to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” 30They answered him, “If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you.” 31Pilate said to them, bvTake him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death.” 32 bwThis was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken bxto show by what kind of death he was going to die.

My Kingdom Is Not of This World

33 bySo Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, bzAre you the King of the Jews?” 34Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?” 35Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?” 36Jesus answered, caMy kingdom cbis not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, ccmy servants would have been fighting, that cdI might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” 37Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, ceYou say that I am a king. cfFor this purpose I was born and for this purpose cgI have come into the worldchto bear witness to the truth. ciEveryone who is cjof the truth cklistens to my voice.” 38Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”

After he had said this, clhe went back outside to the Jews and told them, cmI find no guilt in him.
39 cnBut you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 40They cried out again, coNot this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.

John 19:1-16

Jesus Delivered to Be Crucified

1Then Pilate took Jesus and cqflogged him. 2 crAnd the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. 3They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands. 4Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that csI find no guilt in him.” 5So Jesus came out, wearing ctthe crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, cuBehold the man!” 6When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, cvTake him yourselves and crucify him, for cwI find no guilt in him.” 7The Jews

answered him, “We have a law, and cyaccording to that law he ought to die because czhe has made himself the Son of God.”
8When Pilate heard this statement, dahe was even more afraid. 9 dbHe entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, dc“Where are you from?” But ddJesus gave him no answer. 10So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?” 11Jesus answered him, de“You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore dfhe who delivered me over to you dghas the greater sin.”

12From then on dhPilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. diEveryone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.” 13So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on djthe judgment seat at a place called The Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic

Gabbatha.
14Now it was dlthe day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour.
That is, about noon
He said to the Jews, dnBehold your King!”
15They cried out, do“Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” 16 dpSo he dqdelivered him over to them to be crucified.
