Matthew 27:23

28And bdesiring to know the charge for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their council. 29I found that he was being accused cabout questions of their law, but dcharged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment. 30 eAnd when it was disclosed to me fthat there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, gordering his accusers also to state before you what they have against him.”Acts 25:16
16 hI answered them that it was not the custom of the Romans to give up anyone ibefore the accused met the accusers face to face and had opportunity to make his defense concerning the charge laid against him.
