They compelled this man to ^ccarry his cross. 33 ^dAnd when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), 34 ^ethey offered him wine to drink, mixed with ^fgall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. 35 And when they had crucified him, ^gthey divided his garments among them by casting lots. 36 Then they sat down and ^hkept watch over him there. 37 And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, ⁱthe King of the Jews.” 38 Then two ^jrobbers were crucified with him, ^kone on the right and one on the left. 39 And ^lthose who passed by ^mderided him, ⁿwagging their heads 40 and saying, ^o“You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! ^pIf you are ^qthe Son of God, come down from the cross.” 41 So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, 42 ^r“He saved others; ^she cannot save himself. ^tHe is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43 ^uHe trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 ^vAnd the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

21 ^wAnd they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. 22 ^xAnd they brought him to the place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull). 23 And they offered him wine mixed with ^ymyrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him and ^zdivided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. 25 And ^aait was the third hour ^{▼▼That is, 9 a.m.} when they crucified him. 26 And the inscription of the charge against him read, ^ac“The King of the Jews.” 27 And with him they crucified two ^adrobbers, ^aeone on his right and one on his left. ^{▼▼Some manuscripts insert verse 28: And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “He was numbered with the transgressors”} 29 And ^agthose who passed by derided him, ^ahwagging their heads and saying, ^ai“Aha! ^ajYou who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save yourself, and come down from the cross!” 31 So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, ^ak“He saved others; ^alhe cannot save himself. 32 Let ^amthe Christ, ^anthe King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may ^aosee and believe.” ^apThose who were crucified with him also reviled him.
