16For dGod so loved ethe world,
Or  For this is how God loved the world
gthat he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not hperish but have eternal life.

The Authority of the Son

19So Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, pthe Son qcan do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father
Greek he
does, that the Son does likewise.
20For sthe Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And tgreater works than these will he show him, so that uyou may marvel. 21For as the Father vraises the dead and wgives them life, so xalso the Son gives life yto whom he will. 22 zFor the Father judges no one, but aahas given all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son, just as they abhonor the Father. acWhoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24Truly, truly, I say to you, adwhoever hears my word and aebelieves him who sent me has eternal life. He afdoes not come into judgment, but aghas passed from death to life.

25Truly, truly, I say to you, ahan hour is coming, and is now here, when aithe dead will hear ajthe voice of the Son of God, and those who hear akwill live.

7The Jews
