Matthew 28:16

The Great Commission

16Now the eleven disciples dwent to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.

Mark 16:10-14

10 eShe went and told those who had been with him, fas they gmourned and wept. 11But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they hwould not believe it.

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

12 iAfter these things jhe appeared in kanother form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. 13 lAnd they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.

The Great Commission

14Afterward mhe appeared nto the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their ounbelief and phardness of heart, because qthey had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.

Luke 24

The Resurrection

1 rBut on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, staking the spices they had prepared. 2And they found tthe stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were perplexed about this, behold, utwo vmen stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5And as they were wfrightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, xwhile he was still in Galilee, 7 ythat the Son of Man zmust be delivered into the hands of sinful men and aabe crucified and on abthe third day rise.” 8And acthey remembered his words, 9and returning from the tomb they adtold all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10Now it was aeMary Magdalene and afJoanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, 11but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and agthey did not believe them. 12But ahPeter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw aithe linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.

On the Road to Emmaus

13That very day ajtwo of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles
Greek sixty stadia; a stadion was about 607 feet or 185 meters
from Jerusalem,
14and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 alBut their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17And he said to them, What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was ama prophet anmighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20and aohow our chief priests and aprulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21But we had hoped that he was aqthe one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now arthe third day since these things happened. 22Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. asThey were at the tomb early in the morning, 23and atwhen they did not find his body, they came back saying that authey had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24 avSome of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.” 25And he said to them, O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 awWas it not necessary that axthe Christ should suffer these things and enter into ayhis glory?” 27And azbeginning with baMoses and bball the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

28So they drew near to the village to which they were going. bcHe acted as if he were going farther, 29but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and bdthe day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them. 30When he was at table with them, he took the bread and beblessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 bfAnd their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And bghe vanished from their sight. 32They said to each other, bhDid not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he biopened to us the Scriptures?” 33And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they bjfound the eleven and bkthose who were with them gathered together, 34saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and blhas appeared to Simon!” 35Then they told what had happened on the road, and bmhow he was known to them in bnthe breaking of the bread.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

36As they were talking about these things, boJesus himself stood among them, and said to them, Peace to you!” 37But they were bpstartled and bqfrightened and brthought they saw a spirit. 38And he said to them, Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. bsTouch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40And when he had said this, bthe showed them his hands and his feet. 41And while they still disbelieved bufor joy and were marveling, bvhe said to them, Have you anything here to eat?” 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish,
Some manuscripts add and some honeycomb
43and he took it and ate before them.

44Then he said to them, bxThese are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, bythat everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45Then bzhe opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and said to them, Thus cait is written, cbthat the Christ should suffer and on the third day ccrise from the dead, 47and that cdrepentance for the
Some manuscripts for
forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed cfin his name cgto all nations, chbeginning from Jerusalem.
48 ciYou are witnesses of these things. 49And behold, I am sending cjthe promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you ckare clothed with clpower cmfrom on high.”

The Ascension

50And cnhe led them out as far as coBethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51While he blessed them, cphe parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52And they cqworshiped him and crreturned to Jerusalem cswith great joy, 53and ctwere continually in the temple cublessing God.

John 20

The Resurrection

1 cvNow on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that cwthe stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, cxthe one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and cywe do not know where they have laid him.” 3 czSo Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. 4Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5And stooping to look in, he saw dathe linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7and dbthe face cloth, which had been on Jesus
Greek his
head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.
8Then the other disciple, ddwho had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet dethey did not understand the Scripture, dfthat he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples went back to their homes.

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12And dgshe saw dhtwo angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13They said to her, diWoman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, dj“They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14Having said this, she turned around and dksaw Jesus standing, dlbut she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, dmWoman, why are you weeping? dnWhom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be dothe gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16Jesus said to her, Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic,
Or Hebrew
dqRabboni!” (which means Teacher).
17Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to drmy brothers and say to them, ds‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to dtmy God and your God.’” 18Mary Magdalene duwent and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

19 dvOn the evening dwof that day, the first day of the week, dxthe doors being locked where the disciples were dyfor fear of the Jews,
Greek Ioudaioi probably refers here to Jewish religious leaders, and others under their influence, in that time
Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, eaPeace be with you.”
20When he had said this, ebhe showed them his hands and his side. Then ecthe disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As edthe Father has sent me, eeeven so I am sending you.” 22And when he had said this, he efbreathed on them and said to them, egReceive the Holy Spirit. 23 ehIf you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

Jesus and Thomas

24Now eiThomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin,
Greek Didymus
was not with them when Jesus came.
25So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, ekUnless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

26Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. elAlthough the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, emPeace be with you.” 27Then he said to Thomas, enPut your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” 28Thomas answered him, eoMy Lord and my God!” 29Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? epBlessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

The Purpose of This Book

30 eqNow Jesus did many other signs erin the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 esbut these are written so that you may etbelieve that Jesus is the Christ, euthe Son of God, and that by believing evyou may have life ewin his name.

John 21

Jesus Appears to Seven Disciples

1After this Jesus exrevealed himself eyagain to the disciples by ezthe Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2Simon Peter, faThomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of fbCana in Galilee, fcthe sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but fdthat night they caught nothing.

4Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples fedid not know that it was Jesus. 5 ffJesus said to them, Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 fgHe said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7That disciple fhwhom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, fihe put on his outer garment, for he was fjstripped for work, and fkthrew himself into the sea. 8The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards
Greek two hundred cubits; a cubit was about 18 inches or 45 centimeters
off.

9When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12Jesus said to them, fmCome and fnhave breakfast.” Now fonone of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13Jesus came and fptook the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 fqThis was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Jesus and Peter

15When they had frfinished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, fsSimon, ftson of John, fudo you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, Feed fvmy lambs.” 16He said to him a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, fwTend fxmy sheep.” 17He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him fythe third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, fzyou know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, Feed gamy sheep. 18 gbTruly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, gcyou used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” 19(This he said to show gdby what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, geFollow me.”

Jesus and the Beloved Apostle

20Peter turned and saw gfthe disciple whom Jesus loved following them, ggthe one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22Jesus said to him, If it is my will that he remain ghuntil giI come, what is that to you? gjYou follow me!” 23So the saying spread abroad among gkthe brothers
Or  brothers and sisters
that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”

24This is the disciple gmwho is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and gnwe know gothat his testimony is true.

25Now gpthere are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that gqthe world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
