Matthew 3:1-2

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

1 ^aIn those days ^bJohn the Baptist came preaching in ^cthe wilderness of Judea, 2 ^d“Repent, for ^ethe kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Matthew 3:6

6 and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, ^fconfessing their sins.

Matthew 3:11

11 ^g“I baptize you with water ^hfor repentance, but ⁱhe who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you ^jwith the Holy Spirit and ^kfire.

Luke 3:2-3

2 during ^lthe high priesthood of Annas and ^mCaiaphas, ⁿthe word of God came to ^oJohn the son of Zechariah in ^pthe wilderness. 3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming ^qa baptism of repentance ^rfor the forgiveness of sins.
