Matthew 3:1-3

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

1 ^aIn those days ^bJohn the Baptist came preaching in ^cthe wilderness of Judea, 2 ^d“Repent, for ^ethe kingdom of heaven is at hand.” 3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said,

^f“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
^g‘Prepare ^{▼▼Or crying: Prepare in the wilderness} the way of the Lord;
make his paths straight.’”

Matthew 3:5

5 Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him,

Matthew 21:25

25 The baptism of John, ⁱfrom where did it come? ^jFrom heaven or from man?” And they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ^k‘Why then did you not believe him?’

Mark 1:3-5

7 He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, ^af“You brood of ^agvipers! Who warned you to flee from ^ahthe wrath to come?

Luke 8:18

18 ^aiTake care then how you hear, ^ajfor to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.”

John 1:38

38 Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, ^ak“What are you seeking?” And they said to him, ^al“Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?”
