to sin.
35 fThe slave does not remain in the house forever; gthe son remains forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet hyou seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 iI speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard jfrom your father.”

39They answered him, kAbraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, lIf you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40but now myou seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth nthat I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, oWe were not born of sexual immorality. We have pone Father—even God.”

7and not all are children of Abraham qbecause they are his offspring, but rThrough Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 8This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but sthe children of the promise are counted as offspring. 9For this is what the promise said: tAbout this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”
