Jesus Calls the First Disciples

18 aWhile walking by bthe Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

Matthew 10:2

2 cThe names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, dwho is called Peter, and eAndrew his brother; fJames the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

John 1:41-42

41He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found gthe Messiah” (which means Christ). 42He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon the son of hJohn. You shall be called iCephas (which means jPeter
 Cephas and  Peter are from the word for rock in Aramaic and Greek, respectively
).

John 21:15-17

Jesus and Peter

15When they had lfinished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, mSimon, nson of John, odo you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, Feed pmy lambs.” 16He said to him a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, qTend rmy sheep.” 17He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him sthe third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, tyou know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, Feed umy sheep.
