Jesus Calls the First Disciples

18 aWhile walking by bthe Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

Jesus Foretells Peter’s Denial

The Greek word for  you (twice in this verse) is plural; in verse 32, all four instances are singular
ithat he might sift you like wheat,
32but jI have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, kstrengthen your brothers.” 33Peter

15When they had ufinished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, vSimon, wson of John, xdo you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, Feed ymy lambs.” 16He said to him a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, zTend aamy sheep.” 17He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him abthe third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, acyou know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, Feed admy sheep.
