Ask, and It Will Be Given

7 aAsk, band it will be given to you; cseek, and you will find; dknock, and it will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9Or which one of you, if his son asks him for ebread, will give him fa stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11If you then, gwho are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will hyour Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

11What father among you, if his son asks for

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

1And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought nalways to pray and not olose heart. 2He said, In a certain city there was a judge who pneither feared God nor respected man. 3And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, qThough I neither fear God nor respect man, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7And rwill not God give justice to shis elect, twho cry to him day and night? u, vWill he delay long over them? 8I tell you, he will give justice to them wspeedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, xwill he find faith on earth?”

John 9:31

31We know that yGod does not listen to sinners, but zif anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.

Acts 12:5-11

5So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest ayprayer for him was made to God by the church.

Peter Is Rescued

6Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, azbound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. 7And behold, baan angel of the Lord bbstood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. bcHe struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And bdthe chains fell off his hands. 8And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and beput on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.” 9And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but bfthought he was seeing a vision. 10When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. bgIt opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him. 11When Peter bhcame to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that bithe Lord has sent his angel and bjrescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”
