A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed

18 aWhile he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and bknelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” 19And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. 20And behold, a woman cwho had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched dthe fringe of his garment, 21for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” 22Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, e“Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” fAnd instantly

23And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw hthe flute players and the crowd making a commotion, 24he said, “Go away, for ithe girl is not dead but jsleeping.” And they laughed at him. 25But kwhen the crowd had been put outside, he went in and ltook her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26And the report of this went through all that district.

Luke 8:41-56

41 mAnd there came a man named Jairus, who was na ruler of the synagogue. And falling at Jesusfeet, he implored him to come to his house, 42for he had oan only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying.

As Jesus went, the people ppressed around him.
43And there was a woman qwho had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her rliving on physicians,

she could not be healed by anyone.
44She came up behind him and touched tthe fringe of his garment, and uimmediately her discharge of blood ceased. 45And Jesus said, Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter

said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!”
46But Jesus said, Someone touched me, for I perceive that wpower has gone out from me.” 47And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48And he said to her, Daughter, xyour faith has made you well; ygo in peace.”

49While he was still speaking, someone from zthe ruler’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; aado not trouble abthe Teacher any more.” 50But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” 51And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except acPeter and adJohn and James, and the father and mother of the child. 52And all were weeping and aemourning for her, but he afsaid, “Do not weep, for agshe is not dead but ahsleeping.” 53And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54But aitaking her by the hand he called, saying, Child, ajarise.” 55And akher spirit returned, and she got up at once. And he directed that something should be given her to eat. 56And her parents were amazed, but alhe charged them to tell no one what had happened.
