No one had the strength to subdue him. 5Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and mfell down before him. 7And ncrying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, oSon of pthe Most High God? qI adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8For he was saying to him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9And Jesus asked him, What is your name?” He replied, “My name is rLegion, for we are many.” 10And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, 12and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” 13So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea.

14The herdsmen fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. 15And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed

Luke 4:33-35

33And xin the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34Ha!

zWhat have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? aaI know who you areabthe Holy One of God.”
35But Jesus acrebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.

Luke 8:27-37

I beg you, do not torment me.” 29For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon ajinto the desert.) 30Jesus then asked him, What is your name?” And he said, akLegion,” for many demons had entered him. 31And they begged him not to command them to depart into althe abyss. 32Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. 33Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into amthe lake and drowned.

34When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country. 35Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting anat the feet of Jesus, aoclothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. 36And those who had seen it told them how the demon-possessed

37Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes aqasked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned.

Acts 10:38

38how arGod anointed Jesus of Nazareth aswith the Holy Spirit and with atpower. He went about doing good and healing all auwho were oppressed by the devil, avfor God was with him.
