Our Heavenly Dwelling

1For we know that if gthe tent that is hour earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, ia house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2For in this tent jwe groan, longing to kput on our heavenly dwelling, 3if indeed by putting it on
Some manuscripts  putting it off
we may not be found naked.
4For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdenednot that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal mmay be swallowed up by life. 5He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, nwho has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

6So we are always of good courage. We know that owhile we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7for pwe walk by faith, not qby sight. 8Yes, we are of good courage, and we rwould rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

12Therefore from one man, and yhim as good as dead, were born descendants zas many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

13These all died in faith, aanot having received the things promised, but abhaving seen them and greeted them from afar, and achaving acknowledged that they were adstrangers and exiles on the earth. 14For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, aethey would have had opportunity to return. 16But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed afto be called their God, for aghe has prepared for them a city.
