Micah 3:1-3

Rulers and Prophets Denounced

1 And I said:
^aHear, you heads of Jacob
and rulers of the house of Israel!
^bIs it not for you to know justice?—
2 you ^cwho hate the good and love the evil,
^dwho tear the skin from off my people ^{▼▼Hebrew from off them}
and their flesh from off their bones,
3 ^fwho eat the flesh of my people,
and flay their skin from off them,
and break their bones in pieces
and chop them up like meat in a pot,
like flesh in a cauldron.

Micah 3:9-12

9 ^gHear this, you heads of the house of Jacob
and rulers of the house of Israel,
^hwho detest justice
and make crooked all that is straight,
10 ⁱwho build Zion with blood
and Jerusalem with iniquity.
11 ^jIts heads give judgment for a bribe;
^kits priests teach for a price;
^lits prophets practice divination for money;
^myet they lean on the Lord and ⁿsay,
“Is not the Lord in the midst of us?
^oNo disaster shall come upon us.”
12 Therefore because of you
^pZion shall be plowed as a field;
Jerusalem ^qshall become a heap of ruins,
and ^rthe mountain of the house ^sa wooded height.

John 11:47-53

47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees ^tgathered ^uthe council and said, ^v“What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. 48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and ^wthe Romans will come and take away both our ^xplace and our nation.” 49 But one of them, ^yCaiaphas, ^zwho was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50 Nor do you understand that ^aait is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 He did not say this of his own accord, but ^abbeing high priest that year ^ache prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and ^adnot for the nation only, but also ^aeto gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they ^afmade plans to put him to death.
