in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they shall dwell secure, for now che shall be great
to the ends of the earth.
5And he shall be dtheir peace.
eWhen the Assyrian comes into our land
and treads in our palaces,
then we will raise against him seven fshepherds
and eight princes of men;
6they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,
and the land of gNimrod at its entrances;
and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian
hwhen he comes into our land
and treads within our border.

A Remnant Shall Be Delivered

7 Then ithe remnant of Jacob shall be
in the midst of many peoples
like dew from the Lord,
like showers on the grass,
which delay not for a man
nor wait for the children of man.
8And jthe remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations,
in the midst of many peoples,
like a lion among the beasts of the forest,
like a young lion among the flocks of sheep,
kwhich, when it goes through, treads down
and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver.
9Your hand shall lbe lifted up over your adversaries,
and all your enemies shall be cut off.

Zechariah 1:21

21And I said, “What are these coming to do?” He said, mThese are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one raised his head. And these have come nto terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations owho lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it.”

and qI will punish the leaders;
Hebrew  the male goats

for sthe Lord of hosts cares for his flock, the house of Judah,
and will make them like his majestic steed in battle.
4From him shall come tthe cornerstone,
from him uthe tent peg,
from him the battle bow,
from him every rulervall of them together.
5They shall be like mighty men in battle,
wtrampling the foe in the mud of the streets;
they shall fight because the Lord is with them,
and they shall put to shame xthe riders on horses.
6 y“I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and zI will save the house of Joseph.
aaI will bring them back abbecause I have compassion on them,
and they shall be as though I had not rejected them,
for acI am the Lord their God and I will answer them.
7Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior,
and adtheir hearts shall be glad as with wine.
Their children shall see it and be glad;
their hearts shall rejoice in the Lord.

Zechariah 12:2-8

2Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem aea cup of staggering to afall the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem agwill also be against Judah. 3 ahOn that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. aiAll who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And ajall the nations of the earth will gather against it. 4 akOn that day, declares the Lord, alI will strike every horse amwith panic, and its rider anwith madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, when I strike every horse of the peoples aowith blindness. 5Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the Lord of hosts, their God.’

6 ap“On that day I will make the clans of Judah aqlike a blazing pot in the midst of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. And arthey shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while asJerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.

7“And the Lord will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah. 8 atOn that day authe Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that avthe feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, awlike the angel of the Lord, going before them.
