Wait for the God of Salvation

1 Woe is me! For I have become

as when the grapes have been gleaned:
there is no cluster to eat,
no bfirst-ripe fig that my soul desires.

3Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: cReturn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and dI will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. 4 eDo not be like your fathers, fto whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, gReturn from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But hthey did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. 5Your fathers, where are they? And ithe prophets, do they live forever? 6 jBut my words and my statutes, which I commanded kmy servants the prophets, did they not lovertake your fathers? So they repented and said, m‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for nour ways and odeeds, so has he dealt with us.’”

I Am the True Vine

1I am the xtrue vine, and my Father is ythe vinedresser. 2 zEvery branch in me that does not bear fruit aahe takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, abthat it may bear more fruit. 3Already acyou are clean adbecause of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 aeAbide afin me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; agyou are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that ahbears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me aihe is thrown away like a branch and withers; ajand the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If akyou abide in me, and my words abide in you, alask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 amBy this my Father is glorified, that you anbear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
