8 aNineveh is like a pool
whose waters run away.

Halt! Halt!” they cry,
but cnone turns back.
9Plunder the silver,
plunder the gold!
There is no end of the treasure
or of the wealth of all precious things.
10 dDesolate! Desolation and ruin!
eHearts melt and fknees tremble;
ganguish is in all loins;
hall faces grow pale!

Revelation of John 18:9-11

9And ithe kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her, jwill weep and wail over her kwhen they see the smoke of her burning. 10 lThey will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,

Alas! Alas! mYou great city,
you mighty city, Babylon!
For nin a single hour your judgment has come.”
11And othe merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore,

rWhat city was like the great city?”
19And they threw sdust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,

twhere all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
