Nehemiah 9:36-37

36Behold, awe are slaves this day; in the land that you gave to our fathers to enjoy its fruit and its good gifts, behold, we are slaves. 37 bAnd its rich yield goes to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins. They rule over our bodies and over our livestock as they please, and we are in great distress.

Psalms 44:11-14

11You have made us like csheep for slaughter
and have dscattered us among the nations.
12 eYou have sold your people for a trifle,
demanding no high price for them.
13You have made us fthe taunt of our neighbors,
the derision and gscorn of those around us.
14You have made us ha byword among the nations,
ia laughingstock
Hebrew  a shaking of the head
among the peoples.

Psalms 137:1-3

How Shall We Sing the Lord’s Song?

1 By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
2On the willows
Or poplars
there
we hung up our lyres.
3For there our captors
required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying,
Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

Isaiah 32:9-14

Complacent Women Warned of Disaster

9 lRise up, you women mwho are at ease, hear my voice;
you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech.
10In little more than a year
you will shudder, you complacent women;
for the grape harvest fails,
the fruit harvest will not come.
11Tremble, you women nwho are at ease,
shudder, you complacent ones;
ostrip, and make yourselves bare,
pand tie sackcloth around your waist.
12 qBeat your breasts for the pleasant fields,
for the fruitful vine,
13 rfor the soil of my people
growing up in thorns and briers,
syes, for all the joyous houses
in the exultant city.
14For the palace is forsaken,
the populous city deserted;
the hill and the watchtower
will become dens forever,
ta joy of wild donkeys,
a pasture of flocks;
