Nehemiah 9:7-15

7You are the Lord, the God awho chose Abram and brought him out of bUr of the Chaldeans cand gave him the name Abraham. 8 dYou found his heart faithful before you, eand made with him the covenant to give to his offspring fthe land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. gAnd you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.

9 h“And you saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt and heard itheir cry at the Red Sea, 10 jand performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh and all his servants and all the people of his land, for you knew that kthey acted arrogantly against our fathers. And lyou made a name for yourself, as it is to this day. 11 mAnd you divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on dry land, and you cast their pursuers into the depths, nas a stone into mighty waters. 12By oa pillar of cloud you led them in the day, and by a pillar of fire in the night to light for them the way in which they should go. 13 pYou came down on Mount Sinai qand spoke with them from heaven and gave them rright rules and true laws, good statutes and commandments, 14 sand you made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law by Moses your servant. 15 tYou gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and ubrought water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and you vtold them to go in to possess the land that you had sworn to give them.

Nehemiah 9:19-21

19you win your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. xThe pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, ynor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go. 20 zYou gave your good Spirit to instruct them aaand did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst. 21 abForty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell.

Nehemiah 9:27

27 acTherefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer. adAnd in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them aesaviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies.

Nehemiah 9:31

31Nevertheless, afin your great mercies agyou did not make an end of them or forsake them, ahfor you are a gracious and merciful God.

Psalms 63:3

3Because your aisteadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.

Psalms 78:11-72

11They ajforgot his works
and akthe wonders that he had shown them.
12In the sight of their fathers alhe performed wonders
in the land of Egypt, in amthe fields of Zoan.
13He andivided the sea and let them pass through it,
and made the waters aostand like a heap.
14 apIn the daytime he led them with a cloud,
and all the night with a fiery light.
15He aqsplit rocks in the wilderness
and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
16He made streams come out of arthe rock
and caused waters to flow down like rivers.
17 Yet they sinned still more against him,
asrebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18They attested God in their heart
by demanding the food they craved.
19They spoke against God, saying,
auCan God avspread a table in the wilderness?
20 awHe struck the rock so that water gushed out
and streams overflowed.
Can he also give bread
or provide meat for his people?”
21 Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath;
axa fire was kindled against Jacob;
his anger rose against Israel,
22because they aydid not believe in God
and did not trust his saving power.
23Yet he commanded the skies above
and azopened the doors of heaven,
24and he barained down on them manna to eat
and gave them bbthe grain of heaven.
25Man ate of the bread of bcthe angels;
he sent them food bdin abundance.
26He becaused the east wind to blow in the heavens,
and by his power he led out the south wind;
27he rained meat on them like bfdust,
winged birds like bgthe sand of the seas;
28he bhlet them fall in the midst of their camp,
all around their dwellings.
29And they biate and were well filled,
for he gave them what they bjcraved.
30But before they had satisfied their craving,
bkwhile the food was still in their mouths,
31the anger of God rose against them,
and he killed blthe strongest of them
and laid low bmthe young men of Israel.
32 In spite of all this, they bnstill sinned;
bodespite his wonders, they did not believe.
33So he made bptheir days bqvanish like
Hebrew in
a breath,
Or vapor

and their years in terror.
34When he killed them, they btsought him;
they repented and sought God earnestly.
35They remembered that God was their burock,
the Most High God their bvredeemer.
36But they bwflattered him with their mouths;
they bxlied to him with their tongues.
37Their byheart was not bzsteadfast toward him;
they were not faithful to his covenant.
38Yet he, being cacompassionate,
cbatoned for their iniquity
and did not destroy them;
he restrained his anger often
and did not stir up all his wrath.
39He ccremembered that they were but cdflesh,
cea wind that passes and comes not again.
40How often they cfrebelled against him in the wilderness
and cggrieved him in chthe desert!
41They citested God again and again
and provoked cjthe Holy One of Israel.
42They ckdid not remember his power
Hebrew hand

or the day when he redeemed them from the foe,
43 cmwhen he performed his cnsigns in Egypt
and his comarvels in cpthe fields of Zoan.
44He cqturned their rivers to blood,
so that they could not drink of their streams.
45He sent among them swarms of crflies, which devoured them,
and csfrogs, which destroyed them.
46He gave their crops to ctthe destroying locust
and the fruit of their labor to the locust.
47He destroyed their vines with cuhail
and their sycamores with frost.
48He gave over their cvcattle to the hail
and their flocks to thunderbolts.
49He let loose on them his burning anger,
wrath, indignation, and distress,
a company of cwdestroying angels.
50He made a path for his anger;
he did not spare them from death,
but gave their lives over to the plague.
51He struck down every cxfirstborn in Egypt,
the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of cyHam.
52Then he led out his people czlike sheep
and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 daHe led them in safety, so that they dbwere not afraid,
but dcthe sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54And he brought them to his ddholy land,
deto the mountain which his right hand had dfwon.
55He dgdrove out nations before them;
he dhapportioned them for a possession
and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
56 Yet they ditested and djrebelled against the Most High God
and did not keep his testimonies,
57but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers;
they twisted like dka deceitful bow.
58For they dlprovoked him to anger with their dmhigh places;
they dnmoved him to jealousy with their doidols.
59When God heard, he was full of dpwrath,
and he utterly rejected Israel.
60He dqforsook his dwelling at drShiloh,
the tent where he dwelt among mankind,
61and delivered his dspower to captivity,
his dtglory to the hand of the foe.
62He dugave his people over to the sword
and dvvented his wrath on his heritage.
63 dwFire devoured their young men,
and their young women had no dxmarriage song.
64Their dypriests fell by the sword,
and their dzwidows made no lamentation.
65Then the Lord eaawoke as from sleep,
like a strong man shouting because of wine.
66And he ebput his adversaries to rout;
he put them to everlasting shame.
67 He rejected the tent of ecJoseph;
he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68but he chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount Zion, which he edloves.
69He eebuilt his sanctuary like the high heavens,
like the earth, which he has founded forever.
70He efchose David his servant
and took him from the sheepfolds;
71from egfollowing the nursing ewes he brought him
to ehshepherd Jacob his people,
Israel his eiinheritance.
72With ejupright heart he shepherded them
and ekguided them with his skillful hand.

Psalms 105:5-45

5Remember the elwondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and emthe judgments he uttered,
6O offspring of enAbraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his eochosen ones!
7 He is the Lord our God;
his epjudgments are in all the earth.
8He eqremembers his covenant forever,
the word that he commanded, for era thousand generations,
9 esthe covenant that he made with Abraham,
his etsworn promise to Isaac,
10which he confirmed to euJacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11saying, ev“To you I will give the land of Canaan
as ewyour portion for an inheritance.”
12 When they were exfew in number,
of little account, and eysojourners in it,
13wandering from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another people,
14he ezallowed no one to oppress them;
he farebuked kings on their account,
15saying, fbTouch not my anointed ones,
do my prophets no harm!”
16 When he fcsummoned a famine on the land
and fdbroke all supply
Hebrew staff
of bread,
17he had ffsent a man ahead of them,
Joseph, who was fgsold as a slave.
18His fhfeet were hurt with fetters;
his neck was put in a collar of iron;
19until fiwhat he had said came to pass,
the word of the Lord fjtested him.
20 fkThe king sent and flreleased him;
the ruler of the peoples set him free;
21he fmmade him lord of his house
and ruler of all his possessions,
22to bind
Septuagint, Syriac, Jerome instruct
his princes at his pleasure
and to teach his elders wisdom.
23 Then foIsrael came to Egypt;
Jacob fpsojourned in fqthe land of Ham.
24And the Lord frmade his people very fruitful
and made them stronger than their foes.
25He fsturned their hearts to hate his people,
to ftdeal craftily with his servants.
26 He fusent Moses, his servant,
and Aaron, fvwhom he had chosen.
27 fwThey performed his signs among them
and miracles in fxthe land of Ham.
28He fysent darkness, and made the land dark;
they fzdid not rebel
Septuagint, Syriac omit  not
against his words.
29He turned their waters into blood
and gbcaused their fish to die.
30Their land swarmed with frogs,
even in gcthe chambers of their kings.
31He spoke, and there came gdswarms of flies,
geand gnats throughout their country.
32He gave them hail for rain,
and fiery gflightning bolts through their land.
33He struck down their vines and fig trees,
and ggshattered the trees of their country.
34He spoke, and the ghlocusts came,
young locusts without number,
35which devoured all the vegetation in their land
and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36He gistruck down all the firstborn in their land,
gjthe firstfruits of all their strength.
37 Then he brought out Israel with gksilver and gold,
and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
38 glEgypt was glad when they departed,
for gmdread of them had fallen upon it.
39 He gnspread a cloud for a covering,
and fire to give light by night.
40 goThey asked, and he gpbrought quail,
and gave them gqbread from heaven in abundance.
41He opened the rock, and grwater gushed out;
it flowed through gsthe desert like a river.
42For he gtremembered his holy promise,
and guAbraham, his servant.
43 So he brought his people out with joy,
his gvchosen ones with gwsinging.
44And he gxgave them the lands of the nations,
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
45that they might gykeep his statutes
and gzobserve his laws.
haPraise the Lord!

Isaiah 41:8-9

8 But you, Israel, hbmy servant,
Jacob, hcwhom I have chosen,
the offspring of Abraham, hdmy friend;
9you whom I took from the ends of the earth,
and called hefrom its farthest corners,
saying to you, “You are hfmy servant,
hgI have chosen you and not cast you off”;

Isaiah 51:2

2Look to Abraham your father
and to Sarah who bore you;
for hhhe was but one when I called him,
that I might bless him and multiply him.
