Numbers 11:13-23

13 aWhere am I to get meat to give to all this people? For they weep before me and say, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’ 14 bI am not able to carry all this people alone; the burden is too heavy for me. 15If you will treat me like this, kill me at once, if I find favor in your sight, that I may not see my wretchedness.”

Elders Appointed to Aid Moses

16Then the Lord said to Moses, “Gather for me cseventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and dofficers over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you. 17 eAnd I will come down and talk with you there. And fI will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and gthey shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone. 18And say to the people, hConsecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? iFor it was better for us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. 19You shall not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days, 20but a whole month, juntil it comes out at your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have rejected the Lord who is among you and have wept before him, saying, kWhy did we come out of Egypt?”’” 21But Moses said, l“The people among whom I am number six hundred thousand on foot, and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month!’ 22 mShall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, and be enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, and be enough for them?” 23And the Lord said to Moses, n“Is the Lord’s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether omy word will come true for you or not.”

Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of vthe valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 wYou will not need to fight in this battle. Jeremiah Prays for Understanding

16After I had given the deed of purchase to ahBaruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord, saying: 17Ah, Lord God! It is aiyou who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by ajyour outstretched arm! akNothing is too hard for you. 18 alYou show steadfast love to thousands, ambut you repay the guilt of fathers anto their children after them, O great and aomighty God, whose name is the apLord of hosts, 19 aqgreat in counsel and armighty in deed, aswhose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, atrewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds. 20You have shown ausigns and wonders in the land of Egypt, and to this day in Israel and among all mankind, avand have made a name for yourself, as at this day. 21 awYou brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and axoutstretched arm, ayand with great terror. 22And you gave them this land, azwhich you swore to their fathers to give them, baa land flowing with milk and honey. 23And they entered and took possession of it. bbBut they did not obey your voice or walk in your law. They did nothing of all you commanded them to do. Therefore you have made all this disaster come upon them. 24Behold, bcthe siege mounds have come up to the city to take it, and bdbecause of sword and famine and pestilence bethe city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What you spoke has come to pass, and behold, you see it. 25Yet you, O Lord God, have said to me, bfBuy the field for money bgand get witnesses”—though bhthe city is given into the hands of the Chaldeans.’”

26The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 27Behold, I am the Lord, bithe God of all flesh. bjIs anything too hard for me?
