Numbers 13:22-23

22They went up into athe Negeb and came to bHebron. cAhiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the ddescendants of Anak, were there. ( eHebron was built seven years before fZoan in Egypt.) 23And gthey came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs.

Deuteronomy 1:28

28Where are we going up? hOur brothers have made our hearts melt, saying, i“The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven. And besides, we have seen jthe sons of the Anakim there.”’

Deuteronomy 2:21

21 ka people great and many, and tall as the Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before the Ammonites,

and they dispossessed them and settled in their place,

Joshua 14:12-14

12So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the oAnakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.”

13Then Joshua pblessed him, and he gave qHebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. 14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, rbecause he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel.

Joshua 15:13-14

13According to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the people of Judah, sKiriath-arba, that is, tHebron (Arba was the father of Anak). 14And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak, uSheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.

Judges 1:10-11

10 vAnd Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron w(now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba), and they defeated xSheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

11From there they went against the inhabitants of Debir. The name of Debir was formerly Kiriath-sepher.

Judges 1:20

20 yAnd Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it zthe three sons of Anak.
