28 aHowever, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 bThe Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. cAnd the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.”Numbers 13:32-33
32So dthey brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and eall the people that we saw in it are of great height. 33And there we saw the fNephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the gNephilim), and we seemed to ourselves hlike grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”Deuteronomy 1:28

1“Hear, O Israel: you are vto cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations wgreater and mightier than you, cities great and fortified up to heaven, 2a people great and tall, xthe sons of the Anakim, ywhom you know, and of whom you have heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the sons of Anak?’ 3Know therefore today that he who zgoes over before you aaas a consuming fire is the Lord your God. He will destroy them and subdue them before you. abSo you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as the Lord has promised you.
