Numbers 14:23

23 dshall see the land that I swore to give to their fathers. And none of those who despised me shall see it.

Numbers 14:29

29 eyour dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and fof all your number, listed in the census gfrom twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against me,

Deuteronomy 1:34-40

The Penalty for Israel’s Rebellion

34“And the Lord heard your words and was angered, and he swore, 35 hNot one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land that I swore to give to your fathers, 36 iexcept Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He shall see it, and to him and to his children I will give the land on which he has trodden, because he has wholly followed the Lord!’ 37Even with me jthe Lord was angry on your account and said, ‘You also shall not go in there. 38 kJoshua the son of Nun, lwho stands before you, he shall enter. mEncourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. 39And as for nyour little ones, who you said would become a prey, and your children, who today ohave no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there. And to them I will give it, and they shall possess it. 40But as for you, pturn, and journey into the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea.’

8do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
on the day of testing in the wilderness,
9where your fathers put me to the test
and saw my works for wforty years.
10Therefore I was provoked with that generation,
and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart;
they have not known my ways.’
11 xAs I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest.’”
12Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from ythe living God. 13But zexhort one another every day, as long as it is calledtoday,” that none of you may be hardened by aathe deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have come to share in Christ, abif indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 15As it is said,

acToday, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
16For adwho were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not aeall those who left Egypt led by Moses? 17And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, afwhose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom did he swear that agthey would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19So we see that ahthey were unable to enter because of unbelief.
