21Then cI took the sinful thing, the calf that you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust. And I threw the dust of it into the brook that ran down from the mountain.

grebelling against the Most High in the desert.

Psalms 95:8-10

8 hdo not harden your hearts, as at iMeribah,
as on the day at jMassah in the wilderness,
9when your fathers put me to the ktest
and put me to the proof, though they had seen my lwork.
10 mFor forty years I loathed that generation
and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,
and they have not known nmy ways.”

Psalms 106:14-33

14But they had oa wanton craving in the wilderness,
and pput God to the test in the desert;
15he qgave them what they asked,
but sent ra wasting disease among them.
16 When men in the camp swere jealous of Moses
and Aaron, tthe holy one of the Lord,
17 uthe earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
and covered the company of Abiram.
18 vFire also broke out in their company;
the flame burned up the wicked.
19 They wmade a calf in Horeb
and worshiped a metal image.
20They xexchanged the glory of God
Hebrew  exchanged their glory

for the image of an ox that eats grass.
21They zforgot God, their Savior,
who had done great things in Egypt,
22wondrous works in aathe land of Ham,
and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23Therefore abhe said he would destroy them—
had not Moses, his acchosen one,
adstood in the breach before him,
to turn away his wrath from destroying them.
24 Then they aedespised afthe pleasant land,
having agno faith in his promise.
25They ahmurmured in their tents,
and did not obey the voice of the Lord.
26Therefore he airaised his hand and swore to them
that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
27and would make their offspring fall among the nations,
ajscattering them among the lands.
28 Then they akyoked themselves to the alBaal of Peor,
and ate sacrifices offered to amthe dead;
29they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
30Then anPhinehas stood up and intervened,
and the plague was stayed.
31And that was aocounted to him as righteousness
from generation to generation forever.
32 They apangered him at the waters of Meribah,
and it went ill with Moses on their account,
33for they aqmade his spirit bitter,
Or  they rebelled against God’s Spirit

and he asspoke rashly with his lips.
