Numbers 16:1-7

Korah’s Rebellion

1Now cKorah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and dDathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men. 2And they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, 250 chiefs of the congregation, chosen from the assembly, well-known men. 3 eThey assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, f“You have gone too far! For gall in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?” 4When Moses heard it, hhe fell on his face, 5and he said to Korah and all his company, “In the morning the Lord will show iwho is his,
Septuagint The Lord knows those who are his
and who is kholy, and will bring him near to him. The one lwhom he chooses he will mbring near to him.
6Do this: take ncensers, Korah and all his company; 7put fire in them and put incense on them before the Lord tomorrow, and the man whom the Lord chooses shall be the holy one. oYou have gone too far, sons of Levi!”

Psalms 106:13

13 But they soon pforgot his works;
they did not wait for qhis counsel.

Psalms 106:23

23Therefore rhe said he would destroy them—
had not Moses, his schosen one,
tstood in the breach before him,
to turn away his wrath from destroying them.

Psalms 106:25-48

25They umurmured in their tents,
and did not obey the voice of the Lord.
26Therefore he vraised his hand and swore to them
that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
27and would make their offspring fall among the nations,
wscattering them among the lands.
28 Then they xyoked themselves to the yBaal of Peor,
and ate sacrifices offered to zthe dead;
29they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
30Then aaPhinehas stood up and intervened,
and the plague was stayed.
31And that was abcounted to him as righteousness
from generation to generation forever.
32 They acangered him at the waters of Meribah,
and it went ill with Moses on their account,
33for they admade his spirit bitter,
Or  they rebelled against God’s Spirit

and he afspoke rashly with his lips.
34 They did not agdestroy the peoples,
ahas the Lord commanded them,
35but they aimixed with the nations
and learned to do as they did.
36They served their idols,
which became aja snare to them.
37They aksacrificed their sons
and their daughters to althe demons;
38they poured out innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was ampolluted with blood.
39Thus they anbecame unclean by their acts,
and aoplayed the whore in their deeds.
40 Then apthe anger of the Lord was kindled against aqhis people,
and he abhorred his arheritage;
41he asgave them into the hand of the nations,
so that those who hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies atoppressed them,
and they were brought into subjection under their power.
43 auMany times he delivered them,
but they were rebellious in their avpurposes
and were awbrought low through their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress,
when he axheard their cry.
45For their sake he ayremembered his covenant,
and azrelented according to bathe abundance of his steadfast love.
46He caused them to be bbpitied
by all those who held them captive.
47 bcSave us, O Lord our God,
and bdgather us from among the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
and glory in your praise.
48 beBlessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
bfAnd let all the people say, “Amen!”
bgPraise the Lord!
