An Oracle Concerning Assyria
24 The Lord of hosts has sworn:h“As I have planned,
so shall it be,
and as I have purposed,
so shall it stand,
25that iI will break the Assyrian in my land,
and on my mountains trample him underfoot;
and jhis yoke shall depart from them,
and khis burden from their shoulder.”
26 This is the purpose that is purposed
concerning the whole earth,
and this is lthe hand that is stretched out
over all the nations.
27 mFor the Lord of hosts has purposed,
and who will annul it?
nHis hand is stretched out,
and who will turn it back?
Jeremiah 44:16-17
16“As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, owe will not listen to you. 17 pBut we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to qthe queen of heaven rand pour out drink offerings to her, sas we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster.Jeremiah 44:25-26
