Numbers 14:33-34

33And your children ashall be shepherds in the wilderness bforty years and shall csuffer for your faithlessness, until the last of your dead bodies lies in the wilderness. 34 dAccording to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, eforty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’

Deuteronomy 1:6-7

6“The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, f‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. 7Turn and take your journey, and go to gthe hill country of the Amorites and to all their neighbors in hthe Arabah, iin the hill country and in the lowland and in the Negeb and jby the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.

Deuteronomy 2:14

14And the time from our leaving kKadesh-barnea until we crossed lthe brook Zered was thirty-eight years, muntil the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.
