Numbers 14:34-35

34 aAccording to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, bforty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’ 35 cI, the Lord, have spoken. Surely this will I do to all dthis wicked congregation who are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall come to a full end, and there they shall die.”

Numbers 32:13

13And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them ewander in the wilderness forty years, until fall the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone.

Deuteronomy 2:14-16

14And the time from our leaving gKadesh-barnea until we crossed hthe brook Zered was thirty-eight years, iuntil the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them. 15For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the camp, until they had perished.

Deuteronomy 7:22-23

22 jThe Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little. You may not make an end of them at once,
Or quickly
lest the wild beasts grow too numerous for you.
23 lBut the Lord your God will give them over to you and throw them into great confusion, until they are destroyed.

Psalms 7:9

9Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
and may you establish the righteous

Hebrew  the hearts and kidneys

Psalms 59:11

11 Kill them not, lest my people forget;
make them totter
Or wander
by your power and qbring them down,
