Isaiah 8:9-10

9 Be broken,
Or  Be evil
you peoples, and gbe shattered;
Or dismayed

give ear, all you far countries;
strap on your armor and be shattered;
strap on your armor and be shattered.
10Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing;
speak a word, ibut it will not stand,
for God jis with us.
The Hebrew for  God is with us is Immanuel

Isaiah 30:1-7

Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 Ah, lstubborn children,” declares the Lord,
m“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make nan alliance,
Hebrew  who weave a web
but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;
2 pwho set out to go down to Egypt,
without asking for my direction,
to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh
and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
3 qTherefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame,
and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.
4For though his officials are at rZoan
and shis envoys reach tHanes,
5everyone comes to shame
through ua people that cannot profit them,
that brings neither help nor profit,
but shame and disgrace.”
6An voracle on wthe beasts of xthe Negeb.

Through a land of trouble and anguish,
from where come the lioness and the lion,
the adder and the yflying fiery serpent,
they carry their riches on the backs of donkeys,
and their treasures on the humps of camels,
to a people that cannot profit them.
7Egypt’s zhelp is worthless and empty;
therefore I have called her
aaRahab who sits still.”

Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to abthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who actrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but addo not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And aeyet he is wise and brings disaster;
afhe does not call back his words,
but agwill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of ahthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses aiare flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

Ezekiel 17:10

10Behold, it is planted; will it thrive? ajWill it not utterly wither when the east wind strikes it—wither away on the bed where it sprouted?”

Ezekiel 17:15-17

15 akBut he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors alto Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. amWill he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he anbreak the covenant and yet escape?

16 ao“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely apin the place where the king dwells aqwho made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die. 17 arPharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, aswhen mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives.
