Numbers 15:32-36

A Sabbathbreaker Executed

32While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man agathering sticks on the Sabbath day. 33And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. 34 bThey put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. 35And the Lord said to Moses, c“The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall dstone him with stones outside the camp.” 36And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Deuteronomy 5:12-14

12“‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14but ethe seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, fthat your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

Luke 13:14-15

14But gthe ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus hhad healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, i“There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! jDoes not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it?
