Korah’s Rebellion

1Now aKorah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and bDathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men.

Numbers 16:7

7put fire in them and put incense on them before the Lord tomorrow, and the man whom the Lord chooses shall be the holy one. cYou have gone too far, sons of Levi!”

Numbers 16:18

18So every man took his censer and put fire in them and laid incense on them and stood at the entrance of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.

Numbers 16:35

35And dfire came out from the Lord and consumed ethe 250 men offering the incense.

1 Kings 13:1-4

A Man of God Confronts Jeroboam

1And behold, ga man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel. Jeroboam was standing by the altar hto make offerings. 2 iAnd the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said, “O altar, altar, thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, jJosiah by name, and he shall sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who make offerings on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.’” 3And he gave ka sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign that the Lord has spoken: ‘Behold, the altar shall be torn down, and the ashes that are on it shall be poured out.’” 4And when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him.” And his hand, which he stretched out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back to himself.
