Numbers 16:46-48

46 And Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, and put fire on it from off the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for ^awrath has gone out from the Lord; the plague has begun.” 47 So Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the midst of the assembly. And behold, the plague had already begun among the people. And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people. 48 And he stood between the dead and the living, and ^bthe plague was stopped.

Numbers 18:1-3

Duties of Priests and Levites

1 So the Lord said to Aaron, “You and your sons and your father’s house with you shall ^cbear iniquity connected with the sanctuary, ^dand you and your sons with you shall bear iniquity connected with your priesthood. 2 And with you bring your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may ^ejoin you and ^fminister to you while you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony. 3 They shall keep guard over you and ^gover the whole tent, ^hbut shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary or to the altar ⁱlest they, and you, die.

Hebrews 2:17

17 Therefore he had ^jto be made like his brothers in every respect, ^kso that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest ^lin the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
