Numbers 20:18-21

18But Edom said to him, “You shall not pass through, lest I come out with the sword against you.” 19And the people of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway, aand if we drink of your water, I and my livestock, bthen I will pay for it. Let me only pass through on foot, nothing more.” 20But he said, c“You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force. 21Thus Edom drefused to give Israel passage through his territory, so Israel eturned away from him.

Deuteronomy 2:5-8

5Do not contend with them, for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because fI have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession. 6 gYou shall purchase food from them with money, that you may eat, and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink. 7For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. hHe knows your going through this great wilderness. iThese forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”’ 8So jwe went on, away from our brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir, away from kthe Arabah road from lElath and mEzion-geber.

“And we turned and went in the direction of the wilderness of Moab.

Judges 11:18

18“Then they journeyed through the wilderness and nwent around the land of Edom and the land of Moab and oarrived on the east side of the land of Moab and pcamped on the other side of the Arnon. But they did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was the boundary of Moab.
