18 But Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, ^a“Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, ^bI could not go beyond the command of the Lord my God to do less or more. 19 So you, too, ^cplease stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me.” 20 ^dAnd God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise, go with them; ^ebut only do what I tell you.” 21 So Balaam rose in the morning and saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab.

Numbers 22:23

23 And the donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road, with a drawn sword in his hand. And the donkey turned aside out of the road and went into the field. And Balaam struck the donkey, to turn her into the road.

Numbers 22:28

28 Then the Lord ^fopened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”

Numbers 31:16

16 Behold, ^gthese, ^hon Balaam’s advice, caused the people of Israel to act treacherously against the Lord in the incident of ⁱPeor, and so ^jthe plague came among the congregation of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 23:4-5

4 ^kbecause they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came out of Egypt, and because they ^lhired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of ^mMesopotamia, to curse you. 5 But the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam; instead the Lord your God turned ⁿthe curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loved you.

Micah 6:5
