Numbers 22:5-7

5 asent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor bat Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the people of Amaw,
Or  the people of his kindred
to call him, saying, “Behold, a people has come out of Egypt. They cover the face of the earth, and they are dwelling opposite me.
6 dCome now, curse this people for me, since they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them from the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”

7So the elders of Moab and ethe elders of Midian departed with fthe fees for divination in their hand. And they came to Balaam and gave him Balak’s message.

Balaam’s Third Oracle

1When Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go, as at gother times, to look for omens, but set his face toward the wilderness.

Numbers 31:8

8They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain, hEvi, Rekem, iZur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. And they also killed jBalaam the son of Beor with the sword.

11Woe to them! For they walked in nthe way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain oto Balaam’s error and pperished in Korah’s rebellion.

14But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of qBalaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might reat food sacrificed to idols and spractice sexual immorality.

20And the beast was captured, and with it tthe false prophet uwho in its presence
