Numbers 24:15-16

Balaam’s Final Oracle

15 aAnd he took up his discourse and said,

“The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor,
the oracle of the man whose eye is opened,
16the oracle of him who hears the words of God,
and knows the knowledge of bthe Most High,
who sees the vision of the Almighty,
cfalling down with his eyes uncovered:

15Forsaking the right way, ethey have gone astray. They have followed fthe way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved ggain from wrongdoing, 16but was rebuked for his own transgression; ha speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

17 iThese are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. jFor them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. 18For, kspeaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely lescaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them mfreedom, nbut they themselves are slaves
Greek bondservants
of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
