3 cDo not desire his delicacies,
for they are deceptive food.
Proverbs 23:6-8
6 dDo not eat the bread of a man who is estingy; ▼▼Hebrew whose eye is evil
gdo not desire his delicacies,
7for he is like one who is inwardly calculating. ▼
▼Or for as he calculates in his soul, so is he
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
but his iheart is not with you.
8You will vomit up the morsels that you have eaten,
and waste your pleasant words.
Daniel 1:5-8
5The king assigned them a daily portion of jthe food that the king ate, and of kthe wine that he drank. They were to be educated for lthree years, and at the end of that time they were to mstand before the king. 6Among these were nDaniel, oHananiah, pMishael, and qAzariah of the tribe of Judah. 7And rthe chief of the eunuchs sgave them names: tDaniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach, and Azariah he called Abednego.Daniel’s Faithfulness
8But Daniel uresolved that he would not vdefile himself with wthe king’s food, or with xthe wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to ydefile himself.Acts 10:13-14
13And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; zfor I have never eaten anything that is aacommon or abunclean.”1 Corinthians 10:27-28
27If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, aceat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 28But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—1 Corinthians 10:31
31So, whether you eat or drink, or adwhatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
