Numbers 25:6-8

6And behold, one of the people of Israel came and brought a Midianite woman to his family, in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the people of Israel, while they were aweeping in the entrance of the tent of meeting. 7 bWhen Phinehas cthe son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose and left the congregation and took a spear in his hand 8and went after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague on the people of Israel was stopped.

Numbers 25:14-15

14The name of the slain man of Israel, who was killed with the Midianite woman, was Zimri the son of Salu, chief of a father’s house belonging to the Simeonites. 15And the name of the Midianite woman who was killed was Cozbi the daughter of dZur, who was the tribal head of a father’s house in Midian.

Deuteronomy 13:9-11

9But you shall kill him. eYour hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. 10 fYou shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 11And gall Israel shall hear and fear and never again do any such wickedness as this among you.

Deuteronomy 13:15-17

15you shall surely put the inhabitants of that city to the sword, devoting it to destruction,
That is, setting apart ( devoting) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction)
all who are in it and its cattle, with the edge of the sword.
16You shall gather all its spoil into the midst of its open square and iburn the city and all its spoil with fire, as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. It shall be a jheap forever. It shall not be built again. 17 kNone of the devoted things shall stick to your hand, lthat the Lord may turn from the fierceness of his anger and show you mercy and have compassion on you and multiply you, mas he swore to your fathers,

Joshua 7:12

12 nTherefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They oturn their backs before their enemies, because they have become pdevoted for destruction.
That is, set apart ( devoted) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction)
I will be with you no more, unless you destroy rthe devoted things from among you.

1 Kings 18:40-41

40And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape.” And they seized them. And Elijah brought them down to sthe brook Kishon and tslaughtered them there.

The Lord Sends Rain

41And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of the rushing of rain.”
