Numbers 3:6-9

6 aBring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. 7They shall keep guard over him and over the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, bas they minister at the tabernacle. 8They shall guard all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and keep guard over the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle. 9And cyou shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are dwholly given to him from among the people of Israel.

Numbers 18:2-6

2And with you bring your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may ejoin you and fminister to you while you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony. 3They shall keep guard over you and gover the whole tent, hbut shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary or to the altar ilest they, and you, die. 4They shall join you and keep guard over the tent of meeting for all the service of the tent, jand no outsider shall come near you. 5And you shall kkeep guard over the sanctuary and over the altar, lthat there may never again be wrath on the people of Israel. 6 mAnd behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the people of Israel. nThey are a gift to you, given to the Lord, to do the service of the tent of meeting.

1 Chronicles 23:28-32

28For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God. 29Their duty was also to assist with the oshowbread, the pflour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the qbaked offering, the roffering mixed with oil, and all smeasures of quantity or size. 30And they were to stand every morning, thanking and praising the Lord, and likewise at evening, 31and whenever burnt offerings were offered to the Lord ton Sabbaths, unew moons, and feast days, vaccording to the number required of them, regularly before the Lord. 32Thus wthey were to keep charge of the tent of meeting and the sanctuary, and to attend the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the xservice of the house of the Lord.

Ezekiel 44:11-14

11They shall be yministers in my sanctuary, having oversight zat the gates of the temple and ministering in the temple. They shall slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and aathey shall stand before the people, to minister to them. 12Because they ministered to them before their idols and became aba stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I have acsworn concerning them, declares the Lord God, and they shall bear their punishment. 13They adshall not come near to me, to serve me as priest, nor come near any of my holy things and the things that are most holy, but aethey shall bear their shame and the abominations that they have committed. 14Yet I will appoint them to keep afcharge of the temple, agto do all its service and all that is to be done in it.
