33And aMoses gave to them, to the people of Gad and to the people of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land and its cities with their territories, the cities of the land throughout the country. 34And the people of Gad built bDibon, cAtaroth, dAroer, 35Atroth-shophan, eJazer, Jogbehah, 36 fBeth-nimrah and Beth-haran, gfortified cities, and folds for sheep. 37And the people of Reuben built hHeshbon, iElealeh, Kiriathaim, 38 jNebo, and kBaal-meon ( ltheir names were changed), and mSibmah. And they gave other names to the cities that they built. 39And the sons of nMachir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it. 40And Moses ogave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he settled in it. 41And pJair the son of Manasseh went and captured their villages, and called them Havvoth-jair.
Havvoth-jair means the villages of Jair
42And Nobah went and captured Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.

Deuteronomy 3:1-17

The Defeat of King Og

1“Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan. And rOg the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at sEdrei. 2But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand. And you shall do to him as you did to tSihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’ 3So the Lord our God gave into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people, uand we struck him down until he had no survivor left. 4And we took all his cities at that time—there was not a city that we did not take from them—sixty cities, vthe whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 5All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides very many unwalled villages. 6And wwe devoted them to destruction,
That is, set apart ( devoted) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction); twice in this verse
as we did to Sihon the king of Heshbon, devoting to destruction every ycity, men, women, and children.
7But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as our plunder. 8So we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the Valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon 9(the Sidonians call zHermon aaSirion, while the Amorites call it abSenir), 10all the cities of the actableland and all Gilead and all Bashan, as far as adSalecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 11(For aeonly Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of afthe Rephaim. Behold, his bed was a bed of iron. Is it not in agRabbah of the Ammonites? Nine cubits
A  cubit was about 18 inches or 45 centimeters
was its length, and four cubits its breadth, according to the aicommon cubit.

12“When we took possession of this land at that time, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory beginning akat Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with alits cities. 13 amThe rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, anall the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All that portion of Bashan is called the land of aoRephaim. 14 apJair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of aqthe Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages arafter his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.) 15To Machir asI gave Gilead, 16and to the Reubenites atand the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Valley of the Arnon, with the middle of the valley as a border, as far over as the river Jabbok, authe border of the Ammonites; 17the Arabah also, with the Jordan as the border, from avChinnereth as far as awthe Sea of the Arabah, axthe Salt Sea, under aythe slopes of Pisgah on the east.

Deuteronomy 29:8

8We took their land and azgave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites.

Joshua 13:8

The Inheritance East of the Jordan

8With the other half of the tribe of Manasseh
Hebrew  With it
the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, bbwhich Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the Lord gave them:

Joshua 13:15-33

15And Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of the people of Reuben according to their clans. 16So their territory was from Aroer, bcwhich is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland by bdMedeba; 17with Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the tableland; beDibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon, 18 bfand Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath, 19and bgKiriathaim, and bhSibmah, and Zereth-shahar on the hill of the valley, 20and biBeth-peor, and bjthe slopes of Pisgah, and bkBeth-jeshimoth, 21that is, blall the cities of the tableland, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, bmwhom Moses defeated with bnthe leaders of Midian, Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who lived in the land. 22 boBalaam also, the son of Beor, the one who practiced divination, was killed with the sword by the people of Israel among the rest of their slain. 23And the border of the people of Reuben was the Jordan as a boundary. This was the inheritance of the people of Reuben, according to their clans with their cities and villages.

24Moses gave an inheritance also to the tribe of Gad, to the people of Gad, according to their clans. 25 bpTheir territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites, to Aroer, which is east of bqRabbah, 26and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from brMahanaim to the territory of Debir,
Septuagint, Syriac, Vulgate; Hebrew Lidebir
27and in the valley Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, btSuccoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, having the Jordan as a boundary, to the lower end of the Sea of buChinnereth, eastward beyond the Jordan. 28This is the inheritance of the people of Gad according to their clans, with their cities and villages.

29And Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh. It was allotted to the half-tribe of the people of Manasseh according to their clans. 30Their region extended from bvMahanaim, through all Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all bwthe towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities, 31and half Gilead, and bxAshtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. These were allotted to the people of byMachir the son of Manasseh for the half of the people of Machir according to their clans.

32These are the inheritances that Moses distributed bzin the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho. 33 caBut to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel is their inheritance, cbjust as he said to them.

Joshua 14:1-5

The Inheritance West of the Jordan

1These are the inheritances that the people of Israel received in the land of Canaan, which ccEleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel gave them to inherit. 2Their inheritance was cdby lot, just as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses for the nine and one-half tribes. 3 ceFor Moses had given an inheritance to the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan, cfbut to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them. 4For cgthe people of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. And no portion was given to the Levites in the land, but only cities to dwell in, with their pasturelands for their livestock and their substance. 5The people of Israel did chas the Lord commanded Moses; they allotted the land.
